Vale: Derek High

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Derek High, a highly respected and much-loved Chinese Medicine practitioner, lecturer, and clinical supervisor.

Derek was a remarkable fountain of knowledge, whose generosity in sharing his expertise left a lasting impact on countless students and colleagues. Since beginning his teaching at SSNT in 2003, Derek taught across a wide range of subjects, always bringing depth, warmth, and insight to the classroom and clinic. He challenged and inspired students to become the best practitioners they could be, and his collegiality and passion for Chinese Medicine were evident in all that he did.

Derek’s presence will be missed beyond words. Like many other valued members of our profession who are no longer with us, we honour his legacy and express our heartfelt gratitude for the contributions he made to his patients, to education, and to the wider Chinese Medicine community.

We send our sincere condolences to all who knew and loved him.

Stay Current with Professional Issues: Watch On-Demand Webinars Anytime

Under the Chinese Medicine Board of Australia (CMBA) Continuing Professional Development (CPD) guidelines, practitioners are required to complete at least four CPD points each year in professional issues.

Just as clinical skills need regular refinement, staying informed on professional matters is essential for maintaining a safe, ethical, and compliant practice. Topics in this area include ethics, communication, boundaries, advertising, infection control, patient confidentiality, new standards, privacy regulations, and complaint management, among others.

Since many of these areas aren't covered in TCM training, AACMA has put together and recorded several webinars focused specifically on professional issues. Whether you're just starting out or want to brush up on key concepts, these webinars are a flexible and accessible way to meet your CPD requirements - at your own pace.
