Cyclone Alfred: Support for Businesses Provided by the State and Federal Governments

To all our members impacted by Cyclone Alfred and the aftermath, AACMA is here to help you if you need.

Below we provide information on a range of support and assistance packages available for eligible small businesses who were affected by Cyclone Alfred.

For any members whose business has been affected, the Insurance Council of Australia provides information and guidance on flood insurance which can be accessed here.

Legal Aid Qld offers advice and provides a guide to getting your insurance claim paid.

Contact the company that insures your business, they will provide information on making a claim and what your policy covers.

The Federal Government offers assistance for businesses impacted by natural disasters to help get those businesses up and running again. 

Business Queensland is also offering natural disaster payments and financial help to eligible businesses in the Brisbane, Bundaberg, Fraser Coast, Gold Coast, Gympie, Ipswich, Lockyer Valley, Logan, Moreton Bay, Noosa, Redland, Scenic Rim, Somerset, Southern Downs, Sunshine Coast and Toowoomba local government areas.

In NSW, the government is also helping businesses get back to business.

If your business has been impacted by Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred, resources and guidance are available to assist you with your business recovery. Use the Small Business Commissioner's guides for actions to take over the next days, weeks and months ahead, including understanding the insurance claims process to assist getting your claim processed smoothly. 

Understand your rights and responsibilities under a retail or commercial lease agreement, or contact the NSW Small Business Commissioner's Customer Service Team on 1300 795 534. 

Tropical Cyclone Alfred grants, payments and financial support is also provided for NSW businesses

NewAccess for Small Business Owners program

The NewAccess for Small Business Owners program, developed by Beyond Blue, provides free mental health coaching to small business owners, assisting with the early signs and symptoms of stress, anxiety, and depression. The program offers free and confidential support and provides practical tools and strategies to overcome problems. All the coaches have a small business background meaning that they are in a great position to understand your needs.

The program has a 70% recovery rate and 97% of participants state that they would recommend to another small business owner. Reach out today or refer the program to a small business owner you know.

Reporting Cycle for Health Funds

Ceased practicing at a clinic, please provide the address and the ceased date so we can advise the health funds to remove your details.

To check your workplace details or membership go to our website https://www.acupuncture.org.au/ then

  • Go to ‘Login’ at the top right-hand corner then
  • Click ‘Member Login’ to log into the website your Username is your email address on AACMA’s record and the password you created.
  • For the first time login, please click the ‘Forgotten Password’ button to set up a password.
