Asia-Pacific Forum on International Communication of Traditional Chinese Medicine

The first Asia-Pacific Forum on International Communication of Traditional Chinese Medicine, held in conjunction with the Australia-China Chinese Medicine Centre’s (CMC) 10th Anniversary celebrations and jointly hosted by WSU and AACMA was a hugely successful event.  

Both Distinguished Professor George Williams AO, Vice Chancellor and President of WSU and Professor Tang Zhishu, President of BUCM  spoke and marked the occasion by signing  documents which were presented to the CMC.

The Consul of the People’s Republic of China’s Consulate General Mr Jin Jianmin and Mr Wu Zhendou, Director General of the Department of International Cooperation of China’s National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine also spoke.

Professor Huang Huang and Dr John McDonald headed the list of presenters and the winners of the 2024, International Bilingual TCM short video were announced.

AACMA is proud to be a supporter of WSU and the CMC.

Western Sydney University is the only public university offering the full suite of Chinese medicine qualifications with Bachelor, Master, Doctoral and post-Doctoral degrees that are recognised worldwide.

The CMC is a collaboration between Western Sydney University and Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, the centre aims to promote the international recognition and development of Chinese medicine for the benefit of human health.

The Chinese Medicine Centre is a platform for:

  • Synergy and integration of high-quality educational resources offering students joint degree programs and student exchange opportunities.
  • High-quality health services, clinical education and clinical research.
  • Multi-point co-operation and sophisticated research.
  • Promoting health and culture to benefit local communities.

 

CPD: Have You Completed Yours for this Year?

CPD is a mandatory requirement for all registered practitioners.

CPD is a mandatory requirement of health funds if you would like to continue to be able to provide health fund rebates for your patients.

What are the requirements?

  • complete a minimum of 20 hours (points) consisting of;
  • 5 points (minimum) in an interactive setting with other practitioners
  • 4 points related to professional issues (non-clinical issues)
  • Outline of your Learning Goals / Objectives and Actual Outcomes
  • Reflection on each activity, how it improved your skills / practice
  • New graduates must complete a minimum of five (5) points for every three (3) months registration remaining.

When does the CPD year start and when is it due?

  • The CPD year is from 1st December to 30th November as per your CMBA/AHPRA registration year.

AACMA requires members to email their completed CPD cards by November 30th each year to ensure compliance with CMBA and Health Funds.

For practitioners who do not complete their CPD within the time frame, private health funds will suspend you from their provider list until you are

If you are struggling to complete your CPD requirements, AACMA makes it much easier. How? Heavily subsidised or free CPD that you can access - Simply log in as a member on www.acupuncture.org.au and click “CPD that may interest you - view all” on your dashboard, then scroll down to find the AACMA CPD recordings to watch and purchase.

CPD record card templates that you just need to fill in with your details and your completed CPD.

You can also access them by logging in to the AACMA website and you will find them on your dashboard. So easy!

Members without Annual Direct Debit 
To get your 10% discount by paying in full before November 30th 2024, please click the “Renew Membership” button on https://acupuncture.org.au/members/mymembership and start your renewal process.

This theme will cover any of the CM modalities acupuncture, herbs, tui na/bodywork-gua sha cupping, Qi gong/Tai chi, dietetics plus also research that shows improved clinical outcomes for patients from the various studies.

Bupa have recently approved the Diploma of Health Science (Chinese Remedial Massage) for provider recognition, CBHS and Australian Unity also do.

Please note not all health funds recognise this course we are currently working with them to do so.

If you have gained the Diploma of Health Science (Chinese Remedial Massage) qualification from Endeavour, please email certified copies of.

  • Award/Graduate certificate
  • Academic Transcripts

Moving or Adding a New Clinic?

Please contact our membership team with your new clinic details by email at aacma@acupuncture.org.au so they can apply to the health funds for new provider numbers.

  • December monthly updates: deadline Thursday 19 December 2024

Ceased practicing at a clinic, please provide the address and the ceased date so we can advise the health funds to remove your details.
