Stay Current with Professional Issues: Watch On-Demand Webinars Anytime

Under the Chinese Medicine Board of Australia (CMBA) Continuing Professional Development (CPD) guidelines, practitioners are required to complete at least four CPD points each year in professional issues.

Just as clinical skills need regular refinement, staying informed on professional matters is essential for maintaining a safe, ethical, and compliant practice. Topics in this area include ethics, communication, boundaries, advertising, infection control, patient confidentiality, new standards, privacy regulations, and complaint management, among others.

Since many of these areas aren't covered in TCM training, AACMA has put together and recorded several webinars focused specifically on professional issues. Whether you're just starting out or want to brush up on key concepts, these webinars are a flexible and accessible way to meet your CPD requirements - at your own pace.

MESSAGE FROM AHPRA & NATIONAL BOARDS: Ahpra Research About Health Regulation

Dear Practitioner,

We are writing to you to ask you for your participation in research we are currently conducting for the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) on motivators and barriers to becoming a health regulation board member.

About the research
Ahpra would like to better understand the considerations that practitioners and community members make in whether to apply to be on a health regulation board. The research is to delve into the current awareness of the Board’s function and role among stakeholders, while understanding the existing perception of Ahpra and the National Boards. This research will help inform how Ahpra can make applying and becoming a member of one of the National Boards that regulate 16 health professions more appealing.

Participation in the research
Your participation in the research would involve participating in a one-on-one interview / mini focus group with one of our experienced senior researchers between 2nd of June and 10th of July 2025. The interview would take approximately 30-45 minutes / focus group 90 minutes and would be conducted at a time convenient for you via Microsoft Teams. Participation is completely voluntary, and you can withdraw at any time without any consequences. Withdrawing from the research will not affect your relationship with Ahpra. You would receive $150 as a thank-you for your time.

Please note, that we do not expect that you have considered or are considering a board membership at present. But, we’d seek to engage with you as a professional in your field, who would therefore be eligible to become a board member.

Your perspective, experiences and insights would be kept confidential, nothing would be associated with your name, organisation, or anything identifying you in our reporting. All personal information will be stored in our secure servers within Australia, and is destroyed upon completion of the research which is estimated to be end of August 2025.

EY Sweeney is bound by an industry code of conduct to maintain the highest level of confidentiality and you can view its Privacy Policy on its website (https://eysweeney.com.au/privacy-policy).

Your support is greatly appreciated and will help deepen our understanding of the current perspectives of applying to be a National Board member, including any constraints and influences to help build strategy for future applicants.

Further information
For Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participants please advise if you would like cultural support during this process or to speak to an Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander person about the research.

We hope you are able to participate in this important initiative. Your insights and experiences are vital to understand how we can work collaboratively to deliver the best possible outcomes from our collective efforts for industry and the community.

If you would like any further information about the research, please contact Carol Nader at Ahpra on carol.nader@ahpra.gov.au or Dr Elisabeth Betz at EY Sweeney on (03) 9288 8564 or elisabeth.betz@au.ey.com
