AACMA Webinars with Rod Martin in April

Rod Martin is an Acupuncturist working in the Northern Suburbs of Brisbane.

Since graduating in 2009 from Endeavour college, Rod has spent his time building a multimodality clinic called GO2 health and for the last 5 years, specifically, the Reforge system of care.

At GO2 health, Rod has built a clinic with 85 staff and practitioners including  General practice, Specialists, Physiotherapy, Exercise Physiology, Psychologists, Massage, Acupuncture, Osteopathy and more. The clinic currently services around 1900 patients each week and is growing at a rate of 50 new patients each and every week. We have a base of 8000 private patients and most importantly, over 7000 active contemporary veteran patients, making it the largest DVA treating facility in the country.

Rod's experience in Business Management, treating and teaching Gojuryu Karate as a 7th Dan in the Japan Karatedo Federation Gojukai (Japan) gives him a unique insight into how to work with people and how to build a successful practice.

This April, Rod will take you through 2 major topics that will help your day to day practice.

Firstly, how to work successfully with doctors. Many of you will know how to do this, but a refresher is always useful! We will also cover how to break into new markets and how to get the best from your environment.

Secondly, his experience working each and every day with the ex-military population has led to treatment protocols and networking to get results with an extremely complex patient cohort.

Revised English Language Skills Registration Standard Now in Effect.

The Chinese Medicine National Board (CMBA)’s revised English language skills registration standard is now in effect. Advance copy of the revised ELS standard was published in December 2024. On 11 March 2025, CMBA published a news item confirming the revised ELS standard was expected to take effect on 18 March 2025.

Updates to the common standard include:

  1. expanding the list of countries recognised
  2. removing South Africa from recognised country list (effective from 18 March 2026)
  3. reducing the writing component score for the approved English language tests from IELTS 7 to 6.5 (or equivalent)
  4. adding the Cambridge English language skills test
  5. widening grounds for extending the validity of English language test results to include continuously working in appropriate roles in recognised countries
  6. extending the timeframe for accepting English language test results from two sittings from six months to 12 months
  7. renaming the current ‘primary language pathway’ to the ‘school education pathway’ to clearly differentiate between the pathway and primary education, and
  8. strengthening and renaming of the current ‘extended education pathway’ to the ‘advanced education pathway’ to more clearly express the original intent of the pathway, clarify the minimum level of advanced education accepted and provide a more effective balance between public protection and flexibility for applicants through accepting breaks of up to two years during completion of study.

These changes are aimed at improving the effectiveness and flexibility of the standard, while maintaining public protection. CMBA’s website has been updated to reflect the new common standard, with additional explanatory materials and resources developed to support applicants to understand and apply under the revised standard. These resources include:

  1. updated ELS Evidence guide,
  2. transitional arrangements policy,
  3. a pathway selection tool to support applicants to determine the right pathway for their circumstances,
  4. video content,
  5. updated frequently asked questions, and
  6.  updated information about accepted English tests.
