Final Countdown to AACMAC 2024: Only 5 Weeks to Go!
It’s the Final Countdown… 5 weeks to go and the biggest Chinese medicine conference in the Southern Hemisphere will be on in Brisbane.

Poney Chiang absolutely nails the “Ancient in Modern” theme of our conference when he presents on neuroanatomy and the correspondences to acupuncture points. His lectures always generate an “Oh, Wow!!!” when you realise the significance of our anatomy and the action of the points we use every day.
Matthew Bauer will be presenting on his very special area of interest and a growing concern with many of our patients when he shares his particular knowledge on the acupuncture and Chinese medicine treatment for peripheral neuropathies.

Michael Connor - Vale
Long time AACMA member Michael Connor passed away suddenly this week.
He had only last week informed the AACMA office that he was intending to retire when we received the sad news from his daughter Angela who sent this message and tribute.
“I wanted to write and inform AACMA members of my father’s passing. I am not sure how to do this so thought I would send through to admin and hopefully the message can be passed somehow to members. I am sure my dad has many colleagues and friends in the industry but I do not know them personally.
My dad Michael Connor has been a practicing Acupuncturist since 1995 (and Naturopath since 1984). He was registered with AACMA from the early days and is one of the old school Acupuncturists that have been practicing in Brisbane for nearly 30 years. He has recently passed away very suddenly and our family is devastated.
He dedicated his life to helping others and was a true believer in the power of Acupuncture and Natural Medicine. I hope that he can be remembered as the amazing man and kind gentle loving soul that he was”.
Our thoughts are with Angela and all of Michael’s family at this sad time.

Event invitation: ISO and IEC Consultation 2024
Standards Australia invites you to attend our ISO and IEC Consultation 2024. This hybrid event will be held on Thursday, 11 July 2024, from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at our Sydney Office (Level 9, 20 Bridge Street) and via MS Teams. This is an opportunity to discuss and collaborate on issues of importance to Australia internationally.
The session will include an ISO and IEC Governance update, followed by a panel discussion focussing on Artificial Intelligence in Standards Development.
For those able to attend in person, lunch will be hosted following the event.
Cyber Wardens: Be Prepared this EOFY
During EOFY and tax season, cyber criminals capitalise on how busy small businesses and suppliers are by increasing attacks.
As well as trying to hack systems to access sensitive financial information, they impersonate the Australian Tax Office (ATO), financial institutions and the MyGov website to scam data and access accounts.
To help you and your staff prepare for the increasing threats, we have developed the small business Cyber Security Guide for EOFY. The Guide is a quick reference tool that covers:
1. Practical tips to combat 6 types of scams
2. Watching out for ATO & myGov scams
3. Sharing financial information safely with eInvoicing
4. Working with your accountant and bookkeeper
5. A cyber security checklist, and more.
AACMA is excited to partner with Cyber Wardens, a free online learning program designed to simplify cyber security for your small business.
Funded by the Australian government, the program is self-paced and quick to complete. It only takes 2 minutes to enrol and start your journey towards safeguarding your small business against scams and cyber threats.

New Business Boost Grant Released!
The Business Boost grants program is back to support more Queensland small businesses. As part of the Queensland Government's Small Business Strategy, these grants are designed to help businesses enhance the efficiency and productivity of their operations.
Registrations of Interest (ROIs) are now open. Closing date for ROIs: 5pm, Friday 5 July, 2024.
The grants provide a co-contribution of between $10,000 and $20,000 to:
- Boost business turnover, profit and employment
- Increase business confidence and skills
- Enhance the business's efficiency and productivity
- Improve business resilience and survivability
The Business Boost grant includes funded activities in 3 project areas:
- Future planning
- Specialised and automated software
- Planning and systems for staff management and development.
